About Me

My name is Louise, welcome to my website. I am a qualified Humanistic counsellor and my core approach is person-centred – this is a non-directive way of counselling which means I am led by the client and will support you on your therapeutic journey. It is not about advice giving or me being the ‘expert’, it is about the importance of the therapeutic relationship between client and counsellor and the trust that we will build. This is what will enable you to find your own solutions and ways of coping with your problems and concerns without being given advice or being told how you ‘should’ be. Working together I would support you in facing your concerns to equip you with the skills and resilience for your future.I am passionate about supporting people and committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and secure manner. I do this by creating a space where you feel at ease and able to be yourself without feeling any judgement. I believe my personal attributes of being able to communicate empathy, congruence (genuineness) and unconditional positive regard towards my clients, supports you in feeling heard and ready to start your personal journey.

I gained my Therapeutic Counselling Diploma in York and have volunteered in Leeds for a charity as a Counsellor before setting up my own private practice. I am a Accredited Registrant member of The National Counselling Society (NCS) and I abide by their Ethical Framework, which includes having regular supervision to support me in my work and ensure I am working ethically and safely with my client’s best interests at the heart of the work. I also attend regular CPD courses to keep my knowledge up to date and also for personal interest in varying areas of Psychology and Counselling.

I believe every individual is unique, therefore I offer a 20-30 minute free initial assessment so that we can meet and decide if we can work together. This initial assessment allows you to see if you would like me as your therapist and it allows me to learn about you and what has brought you to counselling. It also gives you the chance to ask any questions you may have about counselling or the way that I work.I offer a 60 minute session for £40, usually on a weekly basis, however, I understand that counselling can be expensive so fortnightly can be arranged in some circumstances.

I also offer counselling to individuals that can’t travel to my counselling practice, if you would like to know more about this please get in touch.

If you feel you would like to make an appointment for a free initial assessment, then please contact me today.
